Pros: Small Footprint, Much more viewable area
Cons: expensive
The Bottom Line: This is a great monitor if you want a stylish piece with a small footprint, but I would look for warehouse specials rather than pay full MSRP.

| lambrite's Full Review: Samsung SyncMaster 170 T 17 inch LCD Monitor |
First off, let me say that I have drooled over the flat panel monitors since they arrived on the market several years back.
Second off, let me say that I bought a slightly different model than this - the features are all the same but it was manufactured to be sold at a discount warehouse (Sam's Club) so I did NOT pay full retail price.
That being said, I LOVE my monitor. The screen size is a full 17 inches, and because the native resolution is much higher, there is much more desktop space to work in.
The installation was a breeze - plug it in and run the cd to adjust the colors, and you have a working monitor.
The picture, clarity and color are excellent for typical use - internet, graphic editing and design, and other typical applications are crisp and clear.
I have not watched DVD's or other movies on the screen. However, general animations (such as on the web) are fine. The online game that I play does show a little blurriness when the graphics change quickly. I don't think I would recommend this type of monitor if your primary intent is to watch videos or play fast action games.
In my opinion, though, the little bit of blurriness is entirely made up for by the fact that there is no refresh rate (the flickering of tube monitors gives me headaches). I can look at this one for hours without having to look away.
All in all, I think I still spent too much money on it, but I am glad I did.
