Pros: Very stable, good features, nice manual, good quality components and layout.
Cons: not for overclockers: no multiplier adjustments, just FSB.
The Bottom Line: GA-7ZX is very stable, high quality. Onboard sound, dual bios and the usual goodies. Good board whether you want to build a value duron or a killer athlon 1.2Ghz.

This is a great board with everything on it for you to build a killer Socket A system on.
Most onboard sound is AC97 codec based, which leachs off your processor to run. Gigabyte actually included the Creativelabs processor that is on the Soundblaster PCI 128 sound card. So you get decent sound on the board, major bonus.
This board will take durons and athlons all the way up to 1200MHZ and greater when those chips are released.
This board supports 100 and 133Mhz memory bus speed, ATA66 drive controls, temperature monitoring, AGP 4x, 3 DIMM slots that can take up to 1.5GB RAM.
Via KT133 chipset with:
1 AGP, 5 PCI, 1 ISA, 1 AMR slot.
Pretty much everything you could ask for in a board. It is very stable and very well made, which is par for the course when it comes to Gigabyte.
Another feature it has is dual BIOS protection. This prevents bios failure and guards the bios from users who might flash the bios improperly. Quite a nice little thing to add to a board.
There are only 2 things this board could use.
One is a BIOS multiplier and voltage controls. As long as you don't plan to overclock by changing the multiplier on the processor speed this board is for you.
Two is that an ATA100 controller might be a bit more upto date. But truth be told it doesn't make a difference in your drive performance at all. Tests have shown a 1-2% difference in performance between ATA66 and 100. So don't let that make up your mind about this board. It will not let you down.
This board also comes in a GA-7ZX-1 configuration which has no sound chip on it, no dual bios, and no ISA slot. (Which is what seether166's negative epinion is based on, in error. read the label to make sure what you are buying.)
