| moldymac's Full Review: Shuttle HOT-591P Motherboard |
When I was building my first computer as a project, I selected this board for its high speed support at the time and the fact that it has both simm and dimm slots. After building this computer with the hot-591p, the computer ran great for the longest time. I had a 300 mhz amd processor in it at the time and was going to upgrade it to a 400. The manual had said that the board could take up to a 400mhz chip, but after losing the manual, I went to SpaceWalker's website to download a new one. The new manual I downloaded said that the board could not take anything above a 266 amd. After having to figure out jumper setting myself, I got the 400 chip to work. A few months later, the whole system kept crashing for no reason. I tried reinstalling windows, but it did the same thing, and then even more so after installing the chipset drivers. At this point, I just went and bought a new Asus board, which I am proud to say has given me no trouble at all. I have also dealt with 3 other Spacewalker boards and those are all jsut as dead as mine is. I don't recommend this board, buy an Asus, their the way to go!!!
