Pros: Excellent performance. Better geometry and sharpness than any aperture grill (Sony, Mits...) tube I saw.
Cons: Check for good color/brightness uniformity.
Not a true flat screen.
The Bottom Line: Excellent performance, and built as good or better than any other top brand. At this price ($569.00), they are a steal.

I bought my CM813+ from the Hitachi online store, HiStore, as a "New/Discontinued" model for $569. It had a great picture at 1600x1200 to 1856x1392 (I use 1792x1344 at 80Hz), except for a darkness with red/green tints that covered parts of the RHS. It wasn't all THAT bad, and may have been acceptable for some, but I scan and edit photography digitally for printing and NEED a monitor that can display colors/brightness accurately across the entire screen. I contacted Hitachi tech support and they ended up shipping me out a replacement(on-site swap). The replacement has much better uniformity and is great in every other respect.
The CM813+ is much better than my Optiquest V115T (21" aperture grill) - which was showing signs of getting old after only three years. Also much better than the latest Sony G/E 520/540's, I saw at Fry's - when running the high resolutions. Those aperture grill monitors all have more geometric distortion problems.
If you are playing games it probably doesn't matter too much, but if you are working with serious text and graphics at high resolutions then this, or any other newer Hitachi monitor, would be my recommendation. I HATED surfing the web on my Optiquest V115T, but not a problem with the 813+. Hitachi monitors are known for their quality. They are used heavily in the professional CAD/CAM/Graphics fields. I really don't believe I will be replacing this monitor after only three years.
