The CD / DVD player and volume controls & display on the front are very convenient, esp since you can play music CDs without turning the machine on. Supplied battery is only 3600mah, very short life, but at least it's LiOn. Recommend getting a 5400mah replacement battery if you plan on using it without AC. Sound chip too close to the PCMCIA slots--wireless card tends to create "chatter" through the speakers. Keyboard is decent, and the trackpad usable. Can't remove / replace hard disk without some disassembly. No built in ethernet. No 1394 ports. No audio in, just microphone in jack. Nice bright and clear display. But decent machine for watching DVD movies on planes (bring extra battery!) or web surfing and word processing. S3 video chipset is worthless for any sort of 3D programs or games.
