I have been using my 1730CDT for about a week now nonstop, being as it has more power then my desktop for the next 3 days. Generally from my past experiences with Toshiba laptops I have found that they are very sturdy units, but sometimes are a little heavy and produce a lot of heat, right around the wrist area too of all things. Well I can at least say that they heat dissipates much quicker now, this does not get so hot as my Satellite Pro 440CDX managed to do, and what is even better is that the heat does not get to your wrists, I believe this is because the RAM expander use to be under the mouse buttons on the older models and is on the underside of this model.
Unfortunately, it still weights a lot, but I think this is a worthy loss as Toshiba's tend to include everything you need in them making it comparable easily to other laptop including all their external component weight.
Overall, I think the 1730CDT is a great machine be it for corporate or school use, especially for it's price.
