| kg8820's Full Review: Sony VAIO XG500 PC Notebook |
I was looking for a machine that was light enough to lug around all day to different client sites. It had to have large enough display to show off the graphics and websites that I produce. It also had to have the horsepower to instantly display whatever I wanted to show the client.
The XG500 is this and much more. The package that I bought included a docking station so it is easy to synch up to my primary production system. Although I could easily use this laptop for both tasks, connecting and disconnecting all the peripherals all the time would be a chore (as with any portable).
The only drawbacks are the cost of the other necessities of portable life: an extra battery at $300.00!?!?! And if you like to go mobile with the CD-RW that will set you back another $500.00! -[ouch]- I was lucky enough to find a spare battery on EBAY at half that price. The included Li Ion battery can last about 2.5 to 3 hours if you are using an app that does not access the hard drive much.
The DVD is great for solo entertainment on long flights but will drain the battery after just one movie.
This is a great system and I would purchase it again.
