david_c_reed's Full Review: Lexmark Jet Z82 InkJet Printer
I bought this because I needed a new scanner and it looked like a pretty good idea. Handy to have a scanner, printer, copier all in one. Well, it would be. However, if you don't regularly use this printer, the print nozzles jam up so badly that even a new print cartridge won't rectify the issue. And that's a very expensive lesson to learn, replacing a $30 black cartridge. I've tried using the "clean print nozzle" function, tried cleaning it, tried running cleaning pages through it, tried new cartridges, tried canned air. No go. Every half-inch or so the black won't print at all for a few lines.
Lexmark has lost my business forever, I'm afraid. I should've paid the $20 more for the HP multi-function printer/copier/scanner that a friend bought and hasn't had a bit of a problem with. And he prints less than me.
Additionally, the scanner on this is painfully slow and, as another mentioned, the LCD isn't backlit. The ink distribution seems to be excessive as any color page is soaking wet.
Had a lot of problems at first as it didn't have XP drivers and the XP printing via USB really was awful, so I had to hook it up via parallel port. Newer drivers seem to work better under XP...except for the fact that it skips black lines every so often.
But it's nice and weighty, so it holds open my office door just fine.
