Cons: Slow, very noisy, cheap construction, short ink life, better can be had for much less
The Bottom Line: Not the worst printer in the world - but close. Doesn't print legibly in economy mode, too slow in hi-resolution mode. Noisy printer. Don't buy it.
brxndxn's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo 780 InkJet Printer
I received this printer from Epson after I returned my Epson 777 and negotiated a deal. Basically, it has the same problems of the Epson 777.
First of all, it is NOISY. Modern printers have no excuse to be this noisy. Because of this noise, the printer seems very cheaply made.
This printer is made with the same basic design as the Epson 777.
The printer comes with everything needed - except either a parallel or USB cable. It came with normal ink cartridges and some sample photo papers. The software is exceptionally easy to install and setup was seamless.
The print quality for high-resolution was good - but nothing special. It used a lot of ink, though, and it is very slow on high-resolution. In economy mode, ink is conserved - but that is because it just skips half of what you're trying to print! I always had gaps when I printed in economy mode so I was forced to print in good quality or higher mode.
This printer never had any paper jams, though, which was a pleasant surprise.
Luckily, Epson's Tech Support is TOP NOTCH and they agreed to reimburse me for my troubles with the Photo 780. I would recommend against buying this printer.
