glanglitz's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo 780 InkJet Printer
I have had the Epson Stylus Photo 780 for about 2 years now - new, retail. It worked great the first 9 months. I did not print much after that out of frustration with the print jams and print errors. I wasted more photo paper with this thing using Windows XP - and Epson's Drivers seem to have only made it worse. Once a print failed, you's have to start all over again (more ink).
After weeks (or sometimes months of no printer use) the ink dried out, leaving one to purchase more Epson cartidges. These are roughly $40 for both black and color. Normally I would not have cared printing only documents, but you can't print 'anytyhing' with 'any' color cartridge being 'low' or 'out of ink.' So essentially you are forced to buy MORE ink.
I have tried Rhinotek and self-refill kits, but found that these only make photo quality worse with this printer. For text documents, refills are the only way to go with this thing.
