| dbmendez's Full Review: Epson Expression® 1680 Professional Flatbed S... |
After working in the printing field for 25 years, I decided to start my own small graphics business. After I bought my G-4 Macintosh, I knew my next priority was a scanner. I needed a high-quality scanner, as I anticipated having to scan hi-res photos and slides for print.
After much research, I decided on the Epson Expression 1680 Professional. There wasn't any info from users out there but the specs on this machine seemed to match my needs. Also, the price was within my range. I would have liked to have a larger scanning bed but I decided to go with the 8.5x11 and keep the cost down.
After using this scanner for almost two months, I am thrilled with the results. Though I had scanned several photos at my previous place of employment, I had never scanned a slide. My first paying job required me to do this and it was easier than I had ever hoped. The Epson Expression Scanner does most of your work for you. You can do an auto correct before you scan and then there's seldom any color-correcting to do.
The directions for assembly, for using the slide attachment and for installing are crystal clear.
When scanning, the choices in the menus for setting up your specs are clear and informative.
The scanner I worked on at my previous place of employment cost over twice as much as this one, but it never produced the fine quality scans I get from this product.
I would recommend this scanner for any business, large or small.
