This is the best motherboard I have ever owned, here's why.
Granted, this is the only motherboard I have actually bought without a computer attached to it. I bought this motherboard a year and a half ago, when I decided, hey, I can build a computer! As it turns out, this is the best possible motherboard I could've bought in that situation. It is incredibly easy to use. So easy that it'll make you relive the cursed day you wondered "How hard could it be to upgrade my Packard Bell?" and question why was it so stupidly designed.
The best thing about this motherboard:
Of course, it's ease of use. It uses "Soft Menu II" which basically means it keeps all your ducks in a row. All your sound, video, modem, and other expansion cards, it keeps them ordered and working together, instead of against of each other. No messing with settings, it does it for you. The board is also laid out very well. Well labeled, and logically engineered. The company also is great at updating their bioses, so you can flash yours fairly easy and keep it up to date.
The second best thing about this motherboard:
Features. Although it is a bit old now, it was the pinnacle of featured motherboards when I bought it. USB, UltraDMA 33 (It now comes with UDMA/66!), 2x AGP, and good PCI bus mastering made it a standout back then, and still a winner today with it's updated features and constantly updated bios.
The not-so-best thing about this motherboard:
The speaker, external fan and lights were not labeled properly in the manual, but a little trial and error shortly had me plugged in to the right places. One downside, that's not too bad, but don't be fooled, it does take a decent amount of hardware understanding to properly install this motherboard. But then again, if you're reading this trying to decide which motherboard to get, then you know what goes into putting a computer together.
All in all, this is a great motherboard with outstanding support and (aside from one error) a good manual.
