| sharkis's Full Review: Abit BE6 Motherboard |
I've always enjoyed my abit motherboards, ever since their jumperless socket7 board that made them popular. I then upgraded to the BH-6, which I was very happy with. But the BE6 was a total dissapointment. Why you ask? The UDMA66 controller was a piece of junk. I turned on my computer one day to find out that my fat table had dissapeared. In other words, I lost everything on my 18gig drive. That's not all. If I left my system off long enough, the BIOS would erase itself and reset to default, that was friggin annoying. Also, it won't POST half the time you turn it on, so I had to battle with it to get it on.
From my understanding, this board was to be like the BX6-r2, with DMA-66. Wrong. The bx6r2 is a solid board, perhaps one of the better boards of its time for overclocking. My assumption was wrong.
Hopefully, you won't find this board on the market anymore. The BE-6r2 is everything the BE6 is with all the problems fixed take away 1 ISA slot.
