I believe this is one of the top motherboards for the thunderbird processors. I had no problem getting everything setup when upgrading to this new motherboard. With its SoftMenu III Bios, you no longer have to deal with jumpers. Plus, from all the reviews I have read, it is an overclockers dream (I personally don't overclock).
You get plenty of space for card upgrades. There is an ISA slot (for older hardware), 6 PCI and one AGP. Now, a couple of the slots do share IRQ's, so please read your documentation if problems arise.
The biggest problem I had with this motherboard was the VIA AGP chipset. I currently run windows 2000 pro and with both a TNT2 and GeForce card I was having lockup problems when I played and 3D games. Now there are a bunch of fixes, and registry entries as well as ways to tweak your BIOS for stability. But the problem with my particular setup was with limited windows 2000 support for the VIA AGP chipset. There is currently a hotfix for it on the Microsoft site, and when they release Service Pack 2, it will be included in there.
Overall, this is a solid motherboard, with many features (I did not mention RAID because I personally have not used it, but it seems to be pretty easy to setup). If you want a solid board, with many upgrades in mind, this will definitely fit your needs. As stated above, with the jumperless features, it also makes overclocking your processor and video card a dream.
