| pipedoctor's Full Review: Abit KT7-RAID Motherboard |
I was considering another upgrade. But was tired of "NO" support from Asus. I have used Asus boards exclusivly. I started checking into the new boards, and hit on the Abit KT7-Raid. I could not be happier! I was wanting to experiment with a raid set-up, and I wanted to use the T-Bird. So the Abit was a natural choice. The setup of this board went without a problem. Not one! I even installed ME on the system. I have two network cards installed, and the cold boot time is less than 45 seconds. Shutdown is about 5 seconds. Running two, 30gig IBM 75GXP ATA/100 drives, I get a sustained transfer rate of 46.5MB Sec. This is set for Raid 0.The manual that comes with the board is very user friendly. Anyone should be able to set up this board. I never overclock, but it looks like the SoftMenu III should make it great for the Overclocking Crowd.
As mentioned above, I installed Windows ME. I installed the OS with no PCI cards inserted. The PCI cards were added one at a time after the OS was up and running. Why would I do this you ask? Because of earlier hardware conflicts. This process was recommended by Microsoft Tech Support. Not that they know much about it! But it worked out just fine, and I have no conflicts of any sort. Windows ME is not very hardware friendly.
I would recommend this Motherboard to everyone. So Long ASUS!!!!!
BE SURE TO READ THE MANUAL, ALL OF IT! THERE ARE SOME SOFTWARE INSTALLATION STEPS THAT NEED TO DONE, IN A SPECIFIC SEQUENCE.
