The Abit KT7-RAID is an overclockers dream. Currently I am running a AMD Duron 650 clocked at 1GHZ stable. I have not been able to find another motherboard that comes close to the reliability and ease of set up and ease of overclocking that this one has. First let me run over the features that I like.
Onboard RAID Controller - Included in the package here is a onboard RAID controller. RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is usually used in servers for fault tolerance by mirroring data. For overclockers and those who care about speed RAID-0 mode can be activated. RAID-0 or striping mode allows two hard disks to work together to increase the overall speed of the computer. RAID was easy to set up with a easy to use configuration menu, no jumpers to mess with.
4 Fan Headers - There are 4 fan headers included on the motherboard. Overclockers know that the key to a stable system is cooling. The only bad thing is that only 2 of the headers are monitored. 4 Fan Headers allows you to add fans to your system without having to resort to Y-Adapters to get power.
EZ-BIOS CPU Config - EZ-BIOS CPU Config allows you to set your CPU settings through an easy to use menu rather than having to use Jumpers on the board itself. This reduces the chance for mistakes such as putting jumpers on backwards and makes it easier to overclock without having to open the case.
Fan included on controller chip - There is a fan included on the motherboards controller chip. This usually had to be done as a modification for stability but now is included.
I bought this board based on the reviews I had read on various overclocking sites. This is by far the top board for serious overclockers hoping to create a cheap system with high performance. My overclocked 1GHZ Duron has better performance than a Pentium 1GHZ (on benchmark with SiSoft Sandra). Also my ATA/100 hard drives running RAID-0 have more than double the speed of a ATA/66 drive.
Overall if you are looking for a board to do some Overclocking on you Duron/Athlon/T-Bird processor, look no further, this is the board to do it with.
