Compaq makes an excellent laptop for the average computer user.

Pros: The Compaq Presario 1210 is fast,lightweight, easy to use, and has a big screen.
Cons: My machine did not have the Microsoft Office included.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this laptop for those who need an economical, yet fully capable computer. The size and weight are plusses as well.

I recently purchased a laptop computer because I started a new career as a consultant and it was necessary to have a laptop to perform my responsibilities. I also had less than a full week to find and purchase the laptop before started my first job. I have had no problems to date with this laptop.
I looked at various computers to include Dell, Gateway, and otheer Compaq models before selecting the Compaq Presario 1210US. The initial advantage of the Compaq was its availability. It was loaded with Windows ME as it operating system. I appreciated the larger (14") screen size and total Available memory of 14GB. Most of my work requires the use of Word, Excel and Powerpoint. This machine has plenty of capability and speed for those programs. I also use the internet to research and retrieve email. The 56K modem is more than adequate for this use. The keyboard is very easy to use and I have very large fingers that have been known to miss the correct keys plenty. In addition, my laptop was loaded with a DVD player. This is a great extra for someone who is gone on trips up to three weeks long.
Due to the lack of time I had to find a machine that had all the software I required I had to purchase Microsoft Office for the laptop. It was hard to find in Ocala, Florida and expensive. This is definitely a con for people that require specific software for performing work. This is particularly difficult when the software is so common.
