Cons: No noticeable improvement, strong odor
My in-laws gave us a sample pack of SalonPas Pain Relieving Patches for Christmas (don't ask) and since I keep managing to tweak my upper back/neck I figured I'd give it a try. I would describe the pain as moderate, and confined to a relatively small area between my shoulder blades. This morning I applied the patch to the affected area at about 6:30. It is now 12:30 and I really can't tell the difference - I think it hurts just as much now as it did before I put the patch on. It did say on the packaging that for some people it could take several hours before they feel it working, but I'm thinking that 6 hours counts as several.
I'm not a fan of the odor - I find it to be rather strong, and if you touch it at all, even through clothing, your hands will smell too. Also, it was a bit awkward trying to stick the patch to the middle of my back - I had to remove it once to adjust the placement, and that made it noticeably less sticky.
I might keep trying the patches for the rest of the day, but so far I'm not impressed.
