Pros: Beautiful, light, all I hoped for. Don't understand the negative reviewers.
Cons: Shipping company not contracted to put mattress in place, but you can work around that.
The Bottom Line: I encourage you to risk loving this. There is a 90 day return, you pay shipping to Albany.

| egilpatr's Full Review: SAM Mattress |
I ordered a full size double bed mattress (54" x 75") and then I read these all-or-none reviews, love or hate. So I was worried. I bought the mattress because innerspring ones are now too heavy for me to put my linens on easily.
Kevin was helpful in giving me all the information I wanted by email or by phone. And the somewhat extravagant website did explain the facts of what I would be getting. It offered a multi-part system with independent air cylinders and valves that control the pressure; these respond to the sleeper's weight and return to their original position when the weight is gone; it changes as the weight changes. I was given a "Resilitex" latex foam topper that is fire resistant, non-allergenic, and odor-free. What one sees is the exquisite 100% New Zealand virgin wool fleece cover on top, which helps keep one cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
I found that the shipping company, Old Dominion, does not expect to place the mattress for the buyer, but I worked it out with the men. And friends were there to take the older (heavy but still in great condition) mattress away in the wrappings of the new one after I lay down on the new one to test my first impression.
Since I have a platform for my mattress and ordered a standard double bed, the mattress came in one box and was completely assembled. It has one dial to adjust.
It was love at first sight of the wool fleece topper (I would rate it way high in style for that alone), and then a deeper love when I lay down. I was going to wait a week to review it, because people are supposed to need to take time to get used to it, but I was comfortable at once, and after a few nights I feel ready to place a final review.
What I felt, now that I have slept on it, is that there are no grooves caused by buttons in innerspring mattresses; so the support is everywhere. The mattress returns to its former state without my noticing. There are foam side rails, so one gets good edge support but no hard binding edge. I kept the adjusting dial set to firm and felt supported but also got that lovely feeling of sinking in a bit. Nothing like the negative experiences described elsewhere.
I give it 5 stars. Who ARE these other people, and why are they saying these things????? Perhaps they got defective ones. I must say that the experiences they describe are so very much counter to my own that it boggles my mind. Could competitors be writing? Hmmmm.
