Me and my wife have been very unhappy with our traditional spring mattresses. I am tall and weight around 200 pounds. She is relatively small and weight less than 100 pounds. Obviously no traditional mattress could accommodate both of us. We are used to King size bed so we got the SAM Mattress in that size. We ordered it over the phone after we got great advice from COmfort Direct. The 90-day money-back policy was decisive in our buying decision.
The mattress is shipped in 3 separate boxes:
2 boxes with each side of the mattress
1 box with the cover, the top foam mattress.
Setting up the mattress is easy. As it comes in two parts, each one can be customized (firm to less firm) to fit one's taste.
The mattress is very stable, it does not bounce vertically or horizontally. When your partner/spouse moves, you feel nothing: you are completely isolated. Better than firm, the mattress offers great support: it hards to tell the difference between firmness and support, but with good support your body is not strained and your muscles do not ache in the morning. You can feel a vertical force "supporting" you ... For instance, when you change position from lying to sitting, you feel the mattress support you in the sitting position without sink in the mattress, despite the added weight pressure where you sit.
It is about 1 month we have that mattress and we are extremely happy. We turned our back to spring mattresses for ever.
Overall, it is a great mattress (we had 3 mattresses in 4 years!!!) and this one hopefully will last.
Once set up the mattress is quite thin, and we like the look it provides.
The price is high, but certainly not excessive.
PS: the Mattress firmness is adjustable so I put "extremely firm" among the options given to me, but remember you can tune it as you like.
