Pros: Sheer comfort
No trimming needed for me (I wear a size 10)
Cons: Some might consider pricey
A little difficult to maneuver into place when dealing with boots
I wore a pair of 4 inch spike heeled boots last week and after a few hours my feet were killing me. I remembered years ago I used to wear insoles in pumps so I went out looking to see what was on the market that might provide a little padding for me when I wore heels. I stopped in a Target, walked the foot-care aisle, and saw these strange blue gelled insoles. They looked interesting but most importantlly they were a Dr Scholl product which has always had a high standing in the retail market. I thought I'd give them a try. The packaging stated they were for work shoes; certainly weren't geared toward high heels; but the design won me over and they they were available in women's shoe sizes. See, there are 2 types of gel that are used. The blue gel has a rippled surface and that part cushions and absorbs shock. Then there is a purple gel that is thicker. Good reason too, it adds support. So even tho I wasn't sure I could use them in my boots I had to get them and try them out. Besides, the directions said they could be trimmed down to size if need be. They retail for $8.83 at Target.
So I get home, pulled them out of the package, and puzzled over whether the gel went face up or face down. Good thing it's written on the insole (it goes face down, btw). There is a faux suede like finish on the other side which is what will touch your skin. The instructions read to wipe the inside of the shoe and firmly place in insole in the shoe. I pulled out the boots and placed the insoles inside to see if they would even work with heels. Not only did they work but there was no need to trim.
The true test came yesterday. I wore those same boots for 10 hours. My feet felt like I was walking on marshmallows. There was a spring in my step and not an ounce of pain or discomfort ALL DAY LONG! If these insoles were not transferrable I'd buy a pair for every pair of shoes I wear!
