surferdude7's Full Review: Sennheiser HD 600 Consumer Headphones
The reason for buying headphones is usually so someone else doesnt have to listen to what you want to listen to. The Sennheiser HD-600 will change your mind, they actually can produce a better sound then some speakers.
For the Gamers the HD-600 gives you a sound that most speakers cant match. While playing Starcraft I noticed when I turned my head or moved my head in any direction that the quality sound was with me no matter what position my head was in. Games havent utilized the quality of sound as in a music CD yet but, it sounds great. Plus I can play my games while my wife is watching TV or have gone to bed.
For my Mp3 files it gives it a superior sound and for my music CDs it also has a superior sound. This is using my computer with a Sound Blaster Live sound card. Now listening to my CDs through my Kenwood 5.1 receiver was even better than the computer. The sounds were crystal clear.
For my Home Theater with DVD movies they also have an excellent sound, though I did miss the 5-speaker setup and the subwoofer sound was not near as good. Here again they are great if my wife goes to bed and I wish to watch a movie without disturbing her. DVDs on my computer were also very impressive except for the lack of the subwoofer sound that I am use to. They actually did a better job on my computer with DVD movies than my home theater system.
The Sennheiser HD-600 is an open-back dynamic design with the frame made out of a faux-granite material and oversized earpieces to fit around the entire ear. The earpieces swivel from side to side and from top to bottom, this gives them the comfort to fit each person to their preference. The earpieces are covered in velvet, which adds to the comfort and it seals better with your ears.
It has a 10-foot cable and comes with a nice storage box. The Sennheiser HD-600 has a 2-year warranty. List price is $449.95 and can be found if you shop around from $329 to $399.
Technical Data
The Frequency Response is between 12-39,000 Hz, this is the sound range the driver reproduces. The human ear can only hear between 20-20,000Hz. Anyone hearing above 20,000Hz has superior hearing and below 20Hz is felt like a subwoofer, not heard.
Nominal impedance is 300 ohms, impedance is the load measured on an amplifier in ohms. Cheap headphones will have impedances of less then 100 Ohms and the top rated ones will have impedance of 200 or more.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is less than or equal to 0.1%. THD is a percentage of the signal distorted by the headphone as it reproduces the sound.
Contact Pressure is 2.5 N, this is the amount of pressure placed on the head measured in Newtons. 5N (5 Newtons) is the maximum pressure allowed.

Overall
This is a great set of headphones, the only problem is being the high price. The HD-600 covers the human threshold by having a Frequency Response that is above and below what is needed to hear a superior sound.
After playing a game one hour later, I had forgotten that I was wearing them, this is how comfortable they are made to fit.
If you are into a great audio sound, then I highly recommend the Sennheiser HD-600.
