1 Store1 Review
Pros: Leaves your skin feeling smooth, silky and healthy.
Cons: It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it.
I have, as I am getting older, seemed to lose my skin. Perfume (Chanel No. 5) that I have used for a couple of decades now breaks my skin out after one use and dry patches show up for no reason. And, per my doctor, apparently I now have eczema.
I was looking for a moisturizer that would help my skin stay soft, supple, and not be itchy. I used a lot of products ranging from Jergens, Burts Bees, Curel, Lubriderm, Aveeno and I am sure a huge variety of others that I cannot think of now to try to find the one that makes my skin feel awesome. I found this product and fell in love.
History of Shikai
If you are like me, you probably never heard of this product or company. Heres a little history about the company that I found on their website when I was shopping for a terrific skin care product.
Shikai began 35 years ago when Dr. Dennis T. Sepp, an organic chemist with knowledge of natural products and Dr. Vasant Telang, a pharmaceutical chemist with a knowledge of auyervedic medicines wanted to find out what natural plants could offer people for the skin care in their lives. They apparently came across the properties of the play shikakai.
Today, the company offers about 50 products, per their website, and they are made in California.
They believe in natural botanicals, quality, integrity and producing an excellent product for the consumers. And they want to give people safe and effective body care products and they believe in the intelligence of their customer base.
I had stumbled across this product by asking others about products they use. I wanted to find something that would provide me wonderful skin without being exceptionally pricey and filled with a tremendous amount of chemicals that I could not pronounce. I mean, what exactly is Cetyl-pg hydroxyethyl palmitamide or aluminum starch octenylsuccinate anyway?
I bough the Borage Therapy lotion directly from Shikai.com and started using it immediately upon its arrival. It glided on my skin smoothly, was absorbed quickly, and was not greasy. My skin felt instantly amazing. I like to apply lotion once a day. With some moisturizers, that would not work. With this lotion, I am again a once-a-day moisturizing woman (except my hands).
This moisturizer provides important OMEGA-6 fatty acids for our skin. The moisturizer has borage oil that goes deep into the skin. I find that I do not have to put the moisturizer on more than once a day. (My hands are another story, because I was my hands frequently during the day.)
My skins never felt better or silkier. I even use this on my daughters skin. Its a great moisturizer and a little goes a long way.
Shikai offers a wide variety of products, some of which are listed below:
Borage Dry Skin Therapy and a childrens version
Borage Therapy Skin Care
Anti-Aging Facial Care
Moisturizing Shower and Bath Gels
Color Reflect Styling and Conditioning
Color Reflect Shampoos and Conditioners
There are many other items and you really should check out the products. Shikai uses things like colloidal oatmeal, aloe vera and henna and other items, depending on the product.
If you have a loved one that has problems with their skin being dry, itchy, irritated or even with eczema, this moisturizer offers relief. If you want more natural products to use on your body and hair, check these products out!
Order some of the lotion through their website or if you are a Costco member, you can order Shikai through Costco.com. This lotion is a bit pricier than the basic lotions that you find in your local Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Rite Aid and other stores, but it is worth it for happier, healthier, glowing skin. The main lotion I use is 16 ounces for $19.99 plus shipping and handling, but it lasts a long time.
