rudixeno's Full Review: SOLVENT TRAY LINER (Z Pro 22)
I'm your typical hard-core DIYer. I love to be doing; hate to be cleaning. Put me in the center of the project and I'm a dynamo. You get 100% action while I'm in this zone. But, fast forward to the final hour of a project and the wind just goes right out of my sails. That's right, we're talking about clean up. I've yet to meet the DIYer that can muster any enthusiasm for cleaning up at project's end. I mean, where's the creativity in cleaning up? So for me, any product that can significantly reduce the time I have to spend cleaning up captures my attention quickly.
When painting, I can spend hours applying it carefully to the walls. But once the job is done I can think of any number of things to do other than clean-up. I have on occasion been known to stall for hours, if not overnight. I've ruined my share of rollers and paint trays in my time. As far as the roller goes, I can always justify tossing it at the end of the job. Who wants to start their next project with a pink or green roller? But the tray is another story. It's more expensive and seems somehow to be more substantial and more worthy of my respect. I don't like throwing them away, but I don't care much for scrubbing them clean either.
Z Pro22 Paint Tray Liner Fortunately, at least when it comes to nasty paint trays I can have my cake and eat it too. For $2.00 or less you can purchase Z Pro22 Paint Tray Liners in your local Home Depot, Lowe's or virtually any well stocked hardware or paint supply store. They are designed to precisely fit your standard metal paint tray. They allow you to keep your pristine paint trays looking like new but perhaps even more important to me, they allow me to press my nasty paint caked trays back into service without having to worry about old colors bleeding into the fresh paint.
Although the liners achieve a good fit in a standard size paint tray, a dab or two of petroleum jelly on the underside of the liner will assure a really secure fit.
Ironically, although they're made to be disposed of, they're made of a plastic that is particularly easy to clean. Even day-old latex paint can be easily stripped from these liners. Often, I'll get two or three uses from a liner before it sees the inside of my recycling bin.
Closing Thought There's not much for me to think about here. Every minute I save cleaning up seems like 10 minutes earned. This is a product that will make your next paint project easier. In my book, easier is always better.
