| seungchinlee's Full Review: Rio 800 (128 MB) MP3 Player |
I wanted to get an MP3 player for use during exercise, plane flights, and as an all purpose music player for all the songs I've &*legally downloaded from the internet. When I was looking to buy, there were two products that had 128 mb memory capacity, the Rio 800 and the Intel product. I chose this because the sales guy at Circuit City said that the Intel's radio breaks down frequently and that they've had zero complains on the Rio.
Easy of Use:
The Rio's buttons are easy to use and fuctions perfectly. There are not too many controls and options to confuse but just enough to have anything you could imagine to want. The loading and editing of the song lists is very easy, using the RealJukeBox program that comes with the player.
The player is very light and I use the clip that comes with it to clip it to my belt or carry it in my pocket when I exercise. It's easily carried in your hand too. It comes with a nifty "Hold" option that keeps the player from being disrupted in play. Once you hit play, it keeps on playing, for use during exercise so you don't mistakenly press buttons. The batteries last a good 5+ hours during normal intermittant use, but NOT 11 as it advertises. But it's rechargeable so you just plug it in at your desk and you're all set.
Value:
It cost me $250 with a $50 manufacturer's rebate which I have YET to get after 2 months. I think it should continue to drop in price but it's definitely worth the extra money to get this one over the 64 mb players.
Alternatives:
I also looked at the CD-MP3 players but they weren't portable as was the Rio 800. They hold 600 mb of music and have car adapters, which the Rio 800 does not have. However, you can't run with them (unless you want an arm workout), and they are just too cumbersome.
Music Capacity:
I can store almost 4 hours of music at 65kb quality. I find that I can't tell the difference between 65kb and 128kb which most MP3s come in.
Recommended:
Yes
Amount Paid (US$): 250
