| torcott's Full Review: Sony CDX-M630 Car CD Player |
I bought this head unit on launch day back in 2003, after queuing for what seemed an eternity to buy purely on its looks. Some may say how vein but I dont care I dropped lucky and havent regretted a second as the M630 has the quality and features to make it a winner.
Though getting on a bit now it still keeps up with the best of them. As a stand alone unit it is now just a good looking CD player (a hell of a lot better than the current plasticy messes), however its extra features really make it. I have it hooked up to a Sony MP3 CD changer and my Ipod which brings it squarely into current day ICE. 6CDs of MP3 ID3 tags for track names and all will compete with hard drive containing head units easily; after all, almost and PC can burn MP3 CDs in an instant, without the hassle of cables and hard drives to loose and replace (whats a CD now 6p?), and the Ipod dock gives me functionality without constantly updating four or five devices.
In terms of use, its wonderful! - Simple user friendly controls, hidden behind the faceplate for when you need them; simply press the button and the sleek black screen rotates quickly to show them and a second internal screen. Alternatively use one of the vast array of steering column controls available or the provided IR remote.
It was so good at the time my mate went out and got one too (has since had car stolen a tragedy)
I have used mine in 3 cars now, and wouldnt let go of it if you paid me to!
