I was given this for my birthday last year and always wanting a bargain, got the lifetime plan. This starmate is adequate for keeping my selected music choices in the car and in the house. We wired the bedroom with their antenna so I could bring my Sirius from the car into the house. It does have it's limitations that way since you would have to purchase a second plan if you wanted a second unit vs using this one for both locations.
My starmate was fortunately still in warranty when one of the buttons locked and would not choose my selected channel anymore so they sent me a new Starmate, at MY EXPENSE, WHICH I DID NOT APPRECIATE! They sent me the new Starmate and I put my defective one in that box with the other new accessories and shipped it back. A stupid replacement plan since I only needed the receiver replaced yet had to pay for the shipping weight of the whole set.
By the way, my unit does not get alot of use since I am not in my car alot,yet it became defective. I don't like the tiny channel selector buttons which I would think could be smoother to push on and select.
What can you do when you are at their mercy!
Their customer service was very polite and if I remember, it wasn't outsourced and they actually spoke ENGLISH to my delight!
Another advantage is that you can listen online if you have an account.
