Lots O Fun

Pros:Fun game play and the ability to switch between vehicles and on foot.
Cons:Lacks in vehicle and weapon diversity and story is only ok.
The Bottom Line: It's worth playing even if you don't like the story or are a fan of previous games. The animation is fun and the shooting on land and air is fun.

I'll admit unlike other gamers I didn't have the benefit (or  maybe burden) of having played any of the previous Starfox games before this one. even now I still have not played any of the other games so if you're looking for a comparison to the other StarFox games this isn't the review for you. However, that being said I do know some of the back story for Starfox so i'll try to make this as friendly to old fans and newbies alike.

Anyway the game apparently takes place several years after the previous game Star Fox Adventures and follows the adventures of the main character Fox Mcloud and his mercenary team Star Fox. The game opens with a massive battle between to fleets of starships, the Cornerians (good guys) and the remnants of Andross's own troops (the bad guys). The bad guys are led  by one Andrew Oikoney who is Andross's nephew and trying to start a rebelion. After you defeat him in battle the player is introduced to the main villains of the series, The Aparoids, an alien race who can take over machines and are dedicated to destroying the Lylat system. The story from there follows Fox and co. in an attempt to destroy the Aparoids.

Now onto game play. Throughout the game you play as Fox Mcloud only which is fine because he is a well rounded character. Anyway the game is more than just a piloting game, you are also able to use a land based vehicle called the Landmaster as well as go on foot in a third person shooter style. One good thing about game play is it allows you in some levels to switch between air and ground vehicles as well as going it on foot. Only a few of the levels actually let you mix all three while several will allow you only to options or maybe just one.

Considering the fact that their are three ways to be playing the game you will have multiple controls for vehicles and for on foot. However, the controls are easy to remember and to use. Their isn't much variety vehicle or weapon wise but all the levels are usually challenging and if you like piloting games you will enjoy this.

Multiplayer is pretty good and gives you access to several environments and a new weapon. Their are only a small amount of characters to use though and with the exception of Fox the others that I have so far a fairly poor unless it's in a specialty area. For example Falco is good with flying and Slippy toad with driving the Landmaster.

All in all this is a fun game to play although some people don't find the story all that great, it is a fun game to play and most of the levels are challenging and enjoyable. The charecter ionteraction is ok but it's usually better when it comes to interaction between Fox and another StarFox member Krystal. but as I said it is a fun game to play and worth the money.
