Pros:THUMBS UP FROM OSAGE COUNTY FIRST GRADE
Cons:NONE NOTED
The Bottom Line: These little cards are imaginative, well-designed items Little Learners enjoy using.

Note: as with most of the items I review in this category the items are not toys, games, game pieces, game boards, game devices, or cards to use in game apparatus, nor are they office materials per se, rather these are classroom type materials created by educational publishers and intended for use with Early Childhood, primary and older age students in a classroom or home school environment.

This product is a packet of paper Die Cut Accents having a school or child oriented theme
=======

Creative Teaching Press™ Stars, Designer Cut Outs, measuring 6 x 6 inches are packed 36 to the packet.   Acid and lignin free these stars are crafted from carefully chosen raw materials vigilantly manufactured of first class papers formulated to meet safety regulations for use in situations where young children can reasonably be expected to be present along with being printed using striking, smear resistant, nontoxic inks meeting the requirements of governmental and industry standards; these die cuts offered in child pleasing manner and color tints as well as being sized for Osage County First Grade hand user-friendliness.  These little cards are imaginative, well-designed items Little Learners enjoy using.

Designer cut outs are dandy for creating eye catching bulletin boards, acid free means these particular star motif die cuts will be less prone to wear and tear.  These stars are offered as 6 each of the 6 designs making them dandy for patterning, sorting and counting activities as required under State teaching standards as well as for meeting Common Core goals as set for by NGA, national governors association, regarding Little Mathematicians as they “represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction, understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction, add and subtract within 20, work with addition and subtraction equations, extend the counting sequence, measure lengths indirectly and by iterating length units, as well as represent and interpret data”.

Osage County First Grade is very fond of stars, doesn’t  matter how big or small, stars are a very big classroom hit; and these colorful Cut Outs are no exception to that notion.  This is a packet of well made, durable and multihued die cuts.  The blue features waving lines of vari hued blues including cerulean, cobalt and sapphire; while the black features rick rack type multi tone lines in lemony yellow, plum, chartreuse , ginger, rosy pink and azure, the rose star presents many colored dots against a rose pinked back ground while the plaid is shown in tones of yellow, magenta, scarlet, carroty orange and a muted chartreuse, the blue black is shown with varied width black lines and stripes in bottle green, teal and cerulean, lastly is another rick rack type strip in tones of teal, gold, magenta, pink, lavender and sunny yellow.

I like reasonably priced, kid friendly, teacher affordable materials available for use for Little Learners to use during reinforcement period following the instruction portion of the lesson.

Although I do use a good many die cut accent pieces in the classroom and use them virtually the same year round and from year to year in the class room; I do have an array of colors, silhouettes, and sizes.

Little Learners thrive on repetition and routine; knowing when we do Language Arts and when we have work time is important to Little Learners.  Osage County First Grade enjoys the reassurance of how to use the die cuts and other manipulatives.  Then again, a multiplicity of theme and subject matter add significance and keep attention focused and Little Learners industriously engaged.

Identical  plain white cards with letters, numerals and so forth would serve the same purpose; and be as boring for Little Learners and adults alike as is last months gas bill.

I have long believed; as inspiring, motivating items, small awards including stars, smiles and praise do more to hearten, appeal, encourage and produce wanted outcomes with Little Learners than do castigatory, scowl, growl and –sit on the sidewalk-,  or other techniques of  - get it done or else - school of classroom supervision thinking I have seen used in some classrooms over a 30+ span of teaching Little Learners; not only do we use die cuts as work pieces, but they make fine rewards for pinning to Little Learner pinning board.

Happy to recommend  Creative Teaching Press™ Stars, Designer Cut Outs
