STIHL - FS 90 R Trimmer
My last review told you that I've been helping out this woman while her grandson is serving our country. I was so thoroughly happy with his decisions in picking out the equipment. To my amazement he bought this STIHL - FS 90 R Trimmer a while back and it looks brand new. I've been keeping up on the cleanliness on these machines so it looks like he never left.
My previous experience with Stihl that is it's a good machine once you get it started. But I may be wrong there, this trimmer has been starting right up on the third pull and was ready for me. It immediately was warmed up after a minute and the auto choke went to run. Make sure before starting your trimmer that you have enough line in the cup and the start button is set on go. They say this trimmer weighs 12 pounds but I want to say 15 pounds easy when full of tread and fueled up. It holds 18 ounces of fuel which will last you roughly an hour and a half. It took me an hour to trim all her flowerbeds and trees and I had about just under a eight of a tank left. With this 28CC engine it has enough torque that if you have the right line you can easily cut light brush with it. I can't say that this engine isn't loud, but it's definitely not a loud whining noise you usually hear from trimmers.
The black string cup comes with a automatic string feeder. Just tap it in the grass and it automatically draws enough string to use. Trimming is at 17 inches in a circumference. If you tap it constantly on the cement you will wear out the plastic cup very fast, and replacement parts on any trimmer is costly.
Please remember this notation.
Weed trimmers come in two basic styles a curved shaft or a straight shaft. The straight shaft is so much easier to work with, you can get under bushes or shrubs easier and the best thing it's much safer on your back and arms. This STIHL - FS 90 R Trimmercomes with a 5 foot straight shaft and it's very easy to maneuver and getting the sharp edge on your sidewalks and flowerbeds makes it look like a professional like me did it. (And yes when they ask me my profession I say I'm a grass cutting professional.....Well goooollly Sargent Carter, I didn't know that).
With the black rugged " loop" handle it is just as easy for left handers as well as righties. No need on worrying about the muffler for lefties like me it has a great hard plastic guard on it. The trimmer head and spool can come off and you can use blades on this trimmer if you really have hard thick brush to cut. Stihl
is giving you a one year parts warranty on this trimmer, which includes the engine.
Overall My experience with this STIHL - FS 90 R Trimmer has been a pleasurable one. Easy to hold, very easy to use. Gets under places those curved shaft trimmers would have you busting your back. It's nosey, but not bad. I have heard a lot worst, but I would have to give this trimmer two thumbs up.
Thank you for reading my review.
