Pros: Power, power, power
Easy to service
Ease of starting
Cons: Recommend immediate replacement of small guage low kickback chain... That's it!
I have owned this saw for about 13 years. The first few years I would empty the gas after using as the manual requests. I've struggled with starting many two stroke engines, and did not want this trouble with my new saw. Since then, I have not emptied the gas. It has always started with a few firm pulls. I recommend using Stihl's branded 2 stroke oil, however I have recently switched to an Amsoil product for all my 2 cycle equipment. I think it is better, but you can't go wrong with the Stihl product either.
Also, I had the shop install a heavier bar, sprocket, and chain before I ever took it home. I have never lacked for power or cutting ability. I even bought a 20" bar for cutting larger logs. This saw handles it well. Most of the time, I just use the 16" bar and chains.
I no longer cut firewood, and just use the saw to maintain my 1.6 wooded acres. It starts and runs well with lots of power every time. Spend the $$ for a Stihl is my advice. Dad bought an old used Stihl when I was a kid... I'll likely pass this one down to my son or daughter! I also own a heavy duty Stihl weedeater and a Stihl blower. The Farm Boss 029 came first, but the others were purchased due to the reliability and power experienced with the chainsaw.
