zakyas's Full Review: Safety 1st Deluxe Rollershade 2 Pack
Our family loves to travel. Since we live in California, that means spending a lot of car-time exposed to the sun. I needed to protect my two year old daughter's eyes and skin from the damaging effects of the sun, and that was why I purchased Safety First Roller Shades. While the idea behind these shades is great, I found the actual product to be lacking in several areas.
The first problems presented themselves at installation. The most secure type of installation requires the use of Velcro-like tabs. These tabs should be stuck on the interior of the car above and below the window. As our car was a leased vehicle, we were forced to use the suction cup installation. Not only to the suctions randomly detach, they also are limited to use on the actual window only. This leaves an exposed strip of window at the bottom. I tried to avoid this by using the shade sideways, but the shade is too small for this as well.
The remaining problems have to do with the construction of the shade. The mechanism securing the shade to the roller is extremely delicate; the shade separates from the roller quite easily. Once separated, there is no way to re-attach them. You can avoid this problem if you operate the shade very carefully, but the shade is often within reach of little, active hands.
In conclusion, I would recommend this product as a last resort. It definitely blocks the sun where it can, but its small size and shoddy construction limit its usefulness.
