It's been a long time since I've had a toddler. My youngest son is 12 years old and my daughter is 2. So it's not hard to figure that I had to start all over.
When my daughter learned how to crawl out of her crib I decided that it might be a good time to put her closer to the ground. Her first bed.
What an exciting time that was. My daughter was 15 months old and off we went to the local Toys-R-Us. In hopes to find the perfect bed for my little girl. Well, after a good 4 hours of searching I decided to get a regular toddler bed by Greco.
At the check out, the cashier suggested a bed rail. I was very happy of the suggestion and went to get one.
The decision was not a hard one. They only had two bed rails on the shelf and they were exactly the same products. So off to the check out I go again. With our Safety 1st Bed Rail.
After we got home. We put the bed together. Now, for the bed rail...
I took it out of the box. Look, it is all assembled!! Big Plus!
Let me describe the bed rail for you...
The rail is 42" X 12" with a total height of 16". The rail has a nylon mesh that covers the rails top to bottom. This is what will keep you child from falling on the floor. The "feet" are 15" long and 2 1/2" wide. They are on each end of the rail. The feet are collapsible. When open the rail sits nicely in the shape of a letter L when collapsed, it is in the shape of the letter I. The rail weighs next to nothing.
How to use the bed rail. Pretty easy to use. Just put the feet under the mattress. There you go!! So why don't I like it?
Well, my toddler bed doesn't work well with the Safety 1st bed rails. Under the mattress the bars that the mattress sits on are not 42" apart. So, the bed rail does NOT sit well. In fact, I cannot use it.
Why do I still have it? Well, my husband is no dummy. He cut out a piece of plywood to fit the toddler bed and there you go!! Bed rails work, toddler bed works!
I can't tell you how many times I've gone into my daughter's room to check on her and there she is up against the rail. I really like this little addition to her room. Keeps her in her bed, and I know she won't fall on the floor.
