Frankly having a litter box in the house is an embarrassment. They are ugly, stink and a BIG eyesore. Not many manufacturers have thought of creating a litter box that looks nice. We have found the ultimate litter, now we are searching for the ultimate litter box. Unfortunately, neither of these litter boxes work with the Tidy Cat Crystals we have grown to appreciate for the supreme odor control. But, if there is a "pretty" litter box, the SageKing LitterQuick would have to be it.
We are currently testing the Litter Maid Mega Advanced Deluxe Litter Maid Litter Box and the SageKing LitterQuick. While the Litter Maid Mega Litter Box is mechanical and maybe convenient for some people I personally do not like it. It's expensive, around $189.00. Noisy when the motor rakes the excrement and deposits it into the collection bin at the end of the litter box. The noise doesn't seem to bother the cats, but it wakes me up in the middle of the night. The electric eye inevitably gets dusty and can no longer "see" with out being wiped off. Since we have two cats the collection container needs to be emptied every couple days. The raking device gets hung up when the deposit is too large or too numerous, making for a messy cleanup. I don't like the dust of the clumping cat litters, though certainly not as bad as the clay litters. Litter Maid Mega Advanced Deluxe Litter Maid Litter Box has graduated to a future garage sale item.
SageKing LitterQuick, at last a litter box designed for functionality and it looks pleasant to the eye. It's a triangular unit that fits nicely into a corner, the front is rounded, with a flapped entry way for the cat. The litter box is made out of a very durable material, Polypropylene. Polypropylene is very stain and odor resistant. It comes in three different colors French Vanilla, Granite Gray and Metallic Black. A sifter fits into the bottom of the unit. The sifter has long handles keeping your hands away from the mess. After sifting the waste from the litter the sifter is very easy to empty. There is a guard on each side of the screened sifter so it is easy to dispose of, guiding the waste right into your trash container. Cleaning the box is a quick easy chore, just sift it and dispose of it. Over the top of the unit is a cover providing privacy for your cat and prevents litter from getting all over. The high sides on the box prevents the spray of urine.
Clumping litter is used in this cat box. The litter is poured over the screened sifter which fits inside the bottom container. After the litter is sifted and disposed of the screen is place now in the interchangeable top unit, pour the litter from the bottom unit on top of the screen. The bottom unit now becomes the top unit. Just rotate the box left to right a couple of times to level out the litter. This entire process is a simple, quick cleaning procedure. Sifting and changing this litter box is far less hassle than maintaining the Litter Maid Mega Advanced Deluxe Litter Maid Litter Box, far easier to type too. Best of all, it doesn't make noise. Really the only thing I don't like about this litter box is the dust from the clumping litter, pouring it from one container to the other.
While the Litter Maid Mega Advanced Deluxe Litter Maid Litter Box is close to $200 bucks, the SageKing LitterQuick can be bought at Petco for $34.00. Or it can be bought online at the Catty Corner site for $34.00. Not all the colors are available at Petco, but soon will be. For the best results the recommended litter level is three inches. If any sticking occurs add a little more litter. Litter should be sifted and waste disposed of once a day.
SageKing LitterQuick is a very unique and convenient litter box. For those of you that like the clumping litters and need a litter box that reduces odors, keeps litter in the box where it belongs, provides privacy for the cat, and is convenient, this is the product to use. The shape of the box fits snuggly, out of the way in a corner. The special cleaning method and the closed in box keeps odor down. Best feature of all, it isn't an ugly eyesore. The box is pretty and hides the ugly litter mess. If only SageKing would invent a litter box for crystal litter now.
