I had a set of cheap, ultra basic computer speakers that finally died on me. When I went looking for a new pair that I wouldn't have to fool with to get working, these JBL's became a front runner based on price, great looks, and JBL's good reputation for making nice speakers. I've had these for about a year now, and they are super easy to setup, with color coded cables and input jacks. The bass and treble controls are located on the subwoofer, so if you tend to fiddle with these controls, keep in mind that you may have to keep the sub within reach. Mine sits on my desk. Also to keep in mind, the master volume is controlled by tapping the right speaker tabs (i.e. there's no knob). It's a funky feature I didn't know about until they arrived at my house. It works fine, but I'd prefer a knob or at least some indication on the speakers of how far it's turned up so I don't shake the house with the windows start-up music. These are plenty loud and clean for all your music and gaming needs, with the exception of surround sound needs. One other thing I didn't know before I got these, the satellite speakers each have a green LED on the bottom, which on my glass desk, reflects up indicating that the speakers are on. I'm guessing on a regular desk that it would be more of a green glow in the dark. Pretty cool.
