bumblebugbaby's Full Review: Saitek Eclipse Illuminated Keyboard (PZ30AU)
I bought this keyboard in March of 2005 for my husband who is a gamer. He uses the keyboard mostly at night and we wanted to turn the lamp off and he needed to see the keys. The price of this keyboard was a big obstacle. At the time it was $65 and the others were under $40. We almost settled for one of the cheaper keyboards. The deciding factor in spending the extra was that this keyboard actually had illuminated keys. The others did not. They only had light surrounding the keys that didn't actually show you what each key was. I am so glad that we went ahead and spent the money on this one. It ended up being a great choice for him and for me too. I have trouble getting my fingers to bend to the bottom row of keys so I have never been able to type without looking at the keys. We were both able to use the computer with no extra lights on. The brightness can be dimmed or turned off if you need to. The keyboard was a lot more comfortable than our old one too. I love this keyboard and wanted to buy a second one for our second computer but it the expense kept me from buying one for a rarely used computer. The keys are easy to wear off but thankfully only one of ours did completely. The others just started fading but did not wear off completely.
My husband spilled tea on the keyboard 3 days ago and some of the keys quit working. It is now unrepairable. After all the Christmas spending is over we plan on buying a new one. I loved this keyboard so much that I won't even hesitate over the price this time around.
I noticed that one reviewer mentioned that there is no instructions. I am not sure why you need them. Maybe they reviewed the wrong keyboard. The only instructions you need are to plug it in to a USB port. That is it. Nothing to install, nothing to program. There are 3 keys for volume which have universal symbols above them and a key for the light. Again this has a universal symbol that everyone will recognize.
