sonorandiva's Full Review: Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream .4oz. Jar Blist...
The Product This product is a cuticle massage cream, although I would call the texture more waxy than creamy. It comes in a small (.4 oz) jar that costs between $3 and $4, varying from store to store.
Performance I was having a great deal of trouble with my cuticles after moving to a desert climate. I handle a lot of paper at work, and at home my hands are in water, household cleaners, and the swimming pool frequently. I had a lot of trouble with cracking and peeling cuticles, which was very painful and prone to infection. After beginning to use this product regularly (twice a day) I saw improvement in three or four days, and after two weeks my cuticles were completely healed. I now have beautiful, smooth, and healthy cuticles again!
The heavier texture is an advantage in my case, as the protection lasts longer in my dry climate.
I have very delicate and sensitive skin, prone to outbreaks of excema if irritatated, but I've never had any reaction to this product.
Use This is a waxy textured cream; you must take a small portion out of the jar with a fingernail or cuticle stick, about the size of a matchhead for each hand. Massage the cream into the cuticles gently until it disappears. Apply when you are going to have dry hands for a while so it has a chance to soak in. I keep a jar on my desk and one at home for convenience and apply twice a day; the no-mess formulation makes it easy to use anywhere.
When you first start using it, you may wish to apply three or four times a day if your cuticles are very dry or damaged, cutting back as they heal.
The Good This works very well for those who have extremely dry or damaged cuticles and provides lasting protection. It is very convenient and no-mess, and a little goes a long way, making it an inexpensive solution. The product has never caused my excema to react. The Bad Some people may be put off by the texture, it takes getting used to applying the thick formulation of this product. It has a strong smell, which I do not find pleasant, but it is not strong enough to trigger my allergies. It may cause a reaction in some people though. You may need a machete to get the pot out of the blister pack.
The Conclusion This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone with seriously dry or damaged cuticles. I use it everyday, and wouldn't want to have to do without it!
