| RONinPC's Full Review: Salomon Teneighty |
I spent the afternoon on the ten eighty today, comparing it to the Atomic 911 and Salomons own Axe Cleaver.
It was fun and able to carve right up to the point that I started to get a hand to the ground, but then boot out took me right off of my feet every time. However, that is not what this ski was designed for anyway.
I did not get to go into a half pipe with it, but did get several wall hits. The TenEighty takes the walls really well, with enough stiffenss to ride up the transition without tossing you over, but soft enough to let you land off balance and still recover. The ski spins very well, with a low swing weight despite the added length in the tail.
This is not an all mountain ski, it is OK in the bumps, seems like it would be alright in powder, but is too soft to really light it up. I got a little nervous trying to rip it up while arcing.
Looking for a new school tool, good for spins and jumps, half pipe riding and medium intensity carving? The Ten Eighty works great.
