Pros: quality of food and service, ambience all top-notch.
Cons: Tyson's Corner location can be somewhat difficult to access from Rt. 7.
I've read the accompanying reviews here and would like to add a few comments rather than a full-scale all out review which I feel might be redundant to what has already been said by others. Marty, this one's for you!
Pricing and Quality of Steak
In response to another reviewer's complaints regarding pricing, you get what you pay for, this is not "just steak". I buy "just steak" at Safeway. Their beef comes from Ruprecht Farms near Chicago, a small family operation whose sole business is to supply their restaurants. Here is a quote from Sam and Harry's website:" At Sam & Harry's, quality is our credo - only the finest signature products and USDA Prime aged cuts. Did you know? Only 2 percent of all the beef in America is outstanding enough to be rated USDA prime. Sam & Harry's reserves the premiere center cuts of that 2 percent, which is why our steaks are Simply the Finest in the World." Steaks like these command high prices and get them. These restaurants are packed too I might add with people who know the difference between Steak and Ale and a place like Sam and Harry's.
They import it from the Carnegie Deli in NYC and it has been rated highly by local food critics time and time again.
"I'm a vegetarian, I can't eat here..."
A vegetarian can eat quite well here. Tell your server you are a vegetarian and they can offer good suggestions. The veggies are of the finest quality and you will not go home hungry or dissatified so long as you are not consumed with the thought of other people eating beef.
The staff here is wonderful. They are professional, polite and aim to please. They never push anything on anyone as one reviewer pointed out. The owners are good and hard-working people. They are well-respected in their industry and they are generous to their communities supporting charities and schools.
Quality of Food
I have never had a bad meal at Sam and Harry's. From the calamari with its wonderful cilantro sauce, to crisp and perfect salads, that great and famous spinich souffle, the wonderful steaks especially the signature bone-in strip. The freshest seafood- try the Swordfish Oscar or the crab cakes. The pork chop is also super, cooked to perfection and tender-moist, the turtle cake...most people share that or take it home to finish the next day. I have been known to go home with a shopping bag full of leftovers because we love to order so many sides.
