| v908's Full Review: Samsung DVD-V2000 DVD Player / VCR Combo |
Frankly, I liked my original Samsung DVD-V1000 so much that when a different VCR died and I wanted another combo player, the DVD-V2000 was an obvious top choice. It's basically the same unit as the DVD-V1000, but with improvements (such as more features available on the remote, better controls on the unit itself, fixed the automatic time function, etc.). When you first start using the player the buttons on the remote seem small and hard to differentiate without looking at it. Over time, however, you easily learn to navigate like with any other remote (the lettering wears off after a lot of use though).
I really like combining VCR and DVD player into one unit (saves space, makes hook-ups easier, one remote) and the quality of playback on both the VCR and DVD has been very good. I used to consider Samsung to be a second tier manufacturer (compared to Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, etc.), but my experience with their combo units has caused me to reconsider them as strong contenders in the electronics industry.
