rjsingh10's Full Review: Samsung LN52A650 52 in. HDTV TV
I saw this specific TV set as the top rated 52 inch TV by Consumer Reports. After that, reading tons of reviews and consulting with the sales people at Best Buy, all my research confirmed Consumer Reports designation of this set as the best overall TV set. I finally found it on sale for a very good price over the summer and bought it. I mounted this TV to mall wall using an adjustable wall mount. I have the tv approximately 20 feet from where we sit in the living room. The sound and picture is great.
There are four HDMI plug-ins which make this TV convenient for plugging in the extras (Playstation, Home Theater System, Blue Ray, ect.).
One of the selling features of this set is the patented Samsung 120 hertz refresh rate, which is supposed to prevent distortion, fuzziness, and spots associated with "special effects" from movies, sports. and especially video games. My brother and a lot of my friends are all major "gamers" and they were in shock when they saw the quality of the picture while playing their video games with this TV compared to their LCD's. Most of my friends have Vizio LCD's that are 46 inches.
As for the appearance, the TV looks like a 6K dollar TV. The reddish trim has basically hidden/flush controls on the reddish trim panel and are fancy to say the least. The buttons on the reddish trim are hidden and work like that of a touch screen computer. The only thing is that you really can't see them until you run your finger over them and tey light up. My living room is very bright and I have no issues with viewing the television. I have not needed to view the tv from and angle because of the way my house and living room is situated. Utilizing the options on the tv is simple but require some searching within the menu programs to find more specific items.
The remote is a standard high end remote, I have had no issues or complaints with it. I like the scroll wheel navigation, its fast. I highly recommend a high quality HDMI cable as it will noticeably improve the picture quality (I got a Monster M1000 cable). I also have a Comcast HD box.
I've owned this TV for about 7 months (Since AUG 2008) now with no issues at all. I waited for a while to find a good deal on this set which I eventually did and picked it up for around $2400. In my comparison, this set beats other LCD sets twice as expensive. I have no regrets.
