I'm a TiVo fanboy.

This meant that when I upgraded from a 24" Sony Trinitron to a large flat panel, my (non-Series3) TiVos came along.
That meant that the TV had to make standard-def TV look good.
This Samsung does that. I was really worried about what I'd get, as I've seen all the TVs at the stores, and they rarely did a decent job on standard-def. No stores would let me walk in with TiVo in hand and plug it in to check out the image.
I will not claim it makes Series 2 TiVo output look like high-def. But it certainly doesn't look like grainy tv either. I have two TiVos connected. One a Series 2 DT, hooked up via S-video, and a Toshiba TiVo/DVD recorder hooked up via component. Can't say which I like better for picture.
Anyways, I was pleased with the purchase and how my TiVos look.
As for high-def image. Wow. I use over-the-air HD signals, rather than the compressed video that cable or satellite provide. Wow. The PBS channel in my area provides the nicest shows, although I've also enjoyed sports on CBS which puts out 1080i video.
I do not care for the channel manager, which does not seem to allow me to try adding additional over-the-air channels without rescanning them all. I had a difficult time pointing my antenna in the right direction, and would get some channels in one direction, and some channels in a slightly different location. It would have been nice if I could just try to add individual channels.
I also use a Oppo DVD DV-981HD up-converting DVD player, connected via HDMI. It does a nice job, but it also cannot magically turn a 480p DVD image into 1080p. The DVDs look good.
