| Draggar's Full Review: Samsung SGH M100 Cell Phone |
The Samsung M100 (a.k.a. MP3 Phone), is a great phone, one of Samsung's best. It includes features such as wireless web access, dual band phone, great reception, good battery life, and an MP3 player thrown in.
The dual band feature allows you to be able to pick up an analog signal (you'll have to pay a roaming fee) when there is no digital signal available. This allows you to make important phone calls when there is no signal (unlike single band phones). It acts like having a good spare tire in your car. But people I know who have this phone, can still get service, while other phones who use the same network cannot, giving them a great advantage over other phones.
The wireless web feature allows you to check stock quotes, weather, news while on the go, and also gives you access to email, text pages, and AOL Instant Messenger. It also has Amazon.com and Yahoo for shopping. Its like having the world wide web in the palm of your hand.
The MP3 player added into the phone allows you to store about 1 hour worth of music (usually about 1 average CD), and comes with a headset for listening to your music. It also has one touch answer on the headset, allowing you to pause your music, take a call, then replay your music where you left off without missing a beat. We have also tested the phone with car adapters (the same one that allows you to play a portable CD player in a tape deck in a car) and it worked great.
To get music onto your phone, you'll need a computer, with an available USB port, and Windows 98 or better. The software needed for the transfer is included with the phone. (Just make sure you have CD version 1.2 or later, if yours came with 1.0, check with the retailer where you bought it or you might be able to download the updated software off your Wireless carrier's site).
The phone also includes a scheduler, phone book, and one-touch dialing, making it easy to use and navigate though the menu structure.
