The 3D plasma has an impressive 2D picture and 3D is just like at the movies. (just smaller)

Picture Quality: (2D)
The picture quality is very sharp and clean with deep blacks and true colours. I cannot fault the 2D image quality in any way it looks amazing. It doesn't look blurry or pixelated, it’s a very sharp picture that is life-like and simply perfect.
Picture Quality: (3D)
3D picture quality is very good, I have only one 3D movie and that came with the T.V. But it’s like 3D at the cinema; I have read reviews where people have stated that on the 3D TV's the images has only added depth but no proper 3D effects like objects coming at you... I don't know what TV they have watched but on this TV the image does come at you. In Monsters Vs. Aliens 3D at the very start the president is playing with a ping pong ball attached to a string and hitting it towards the screen; the ping pong ball looked like it was coming out of the screen and going to hit me in the face. It’s a true 3D experience like at the movies, 3d ghosting I have discovered is only there when there is too much light in the room, close the blinds and turn off the lights and the 3D image is flawless. (You can also notice the shutters on the goggles when there is too much light, so turn off the lights for a true 3D experience)
Samsung have this feature where it can make 2D inputs into 3D, but this feature is very limited. I think it relies on camera focus and will make it look like the character is closer to you than the background. This feature just adds depth, not true 3D like objects on the screen flying out of the screen so for the full 3D effect you still need to buy a 3D movie.
Also this feature doesn't work on 100% of the 2D images but does work on most, depending on what the 2D image is. A flat piece of metal being displayed on the screen it won't add depth a landscape or mountains on the screen or newsreader in a studio or an actor in any scene yes it will show 3D depth.
Plasma vs OLED LCD:
Now, when I was buying a TV my main concern was should I get the LED or the Plasma, I researched info on the differences everywhere.
Some say LED's are better and others will say Plasma's are better it all depends on what you like.
LED's cost more than Plasma's purely because they cost more to build.
Compare them yourself and see which is more your type. I preferred the deep blacks and rich colours so I choose the plasma. LED’s are brighter and I think better suited for animated films while plasmas more for dark movies and non-cartoon-like games.
This TV also has internet TV, I played with if for a short while but watching a youtube clip on a 50" screen comes out blotchy and blurry, the TV is just too big for youtube.
Other Internet TV services are also available where you can rent movies or watch clips, check the weather, tv guides and etc. Nice little feature to have but one I don’t really use.
The speakers on this work well, its loud and sound quality is good.
Also the operating noise, when the sound is at 0 you can hear a slight buzzing sound from the TV at about 2-3m, at sound level 1 you cannot hear the operating noise of the TV at that distance.
The Future of 3D:
I was also slightly hesitant of buying this TV because it was one of the first 3DTV's and I also read up on the new technology of no goggles 3D which is supposed to come out in the next year or two.
Firstly being an internet ready TV it allows firmware updates so any 3D hiccups they come by will be able to get patched. (I have not yet seen a 3D problem so far). Secondly onto goggle-free 3D, the current 3D technology is brand new, High Definition was brand new also a couple years ago, if I wait another year something else will come out that’s even better.. So I could wait till TV manufacturers decide to stop advancing TV technology or I could buy the best that is currently available and also the goggles aren't an issue for me, they are comfortable and I can wear them all day.
Overall, it is the best TV I have owned just on its 2D image quality alone and 3D is now the main way I watch TV.
