I have had this refrigerator for just over two years now and thought this was a good time to write a review for it. First of all, this isn't the first refrigerator I have ever owned, having been married for 23 years. I mention that because my previous refrigerators' pros and cons lead me to choose this particular model. I have had top freezer basic models as well as 2 different side-by-side models in the past years. They all left a lot to be desired; specifically usable space. That is what brought me to choose the Samsung RFG297AAPN Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator.
In the year and months that I have owned this refrigerator I have been so pleased at its capacity. I was feeding 3 teenagers and 2 adults when we first bought it. I have been able to fit a huge sheet cake from my local Sam's Club in there with no problems. Not a single one of my former refrigerators would have been able to manage that feat! The freezer has an amazingly large capacity, too. I like the 2 bins that it has--a shallower sliding top bin that can hold a lot of frozen fruit or vegetable bags, ice cream packages, frozen dinners, or anything you need it to hold, while the bottom bin is so handy for storage of roasts, turkey, chickens, ground meats or even frozen pizzas.
What do I love about this model? I love that I can adjust a few shelves for those times when I want to chill a bottle of wine or a 2 liter of soda, but already have 4 gallons of milk in the door. The fruit and vegetable bins hold enough for my family for a week or more, but the most amazing thing the bins do is keep a head of lettuce absolutely fresh for up to 2 weeks!! Can your refrigerator do that without those special green bags? The full width deli drawer is one of my favorite things. I have mine stocked with cheeses and lunch meats. They are easy to access, but kept out of the way of things on the shelves, leaving me room for other items.
I have never had to call for service on this refrigerator, the water filters are relatively inexpensive if you do comparison shopping online, and my power bill actually went down a little after we got it, since it is an Energy Star product.
You may wonder if there is anything I hate about this refrigerator. Just one thing comes to mind, and that is the condiment bins that are in the left hand door. Due to the ice/water dispenser being in that door, they are on the small side, but I have been able to make due just fine, once I got things arranged to my satisfaction. Would I rather the design have been different? No, and that is because if the ice maker were in the freezer, then there would be that much less space in there.
