The Bottom Line: An excellent monitor for games, image editing, documents and most general uses. My choice of the present.

| choicex's Full Review: Samsung SyncMaster 750S 17 inch CRT Monitor |
The Look:
It looks good. And I don't just mean the image. The profile is nice on the eyes, including a small case border around the screen. The power button is simple and efficient - but you will likely never push it since it's a green-function device (which works flawlessly)
The rear of the monitors is a stylish vented curved design, difficult to explain - but in my view, better than many. It takes a little less than an average amount of desk space for a 17" monitor.
The glass is clear, and there is little depth between the glass and the image itself. Many monitors, and especially newer "flat" CRT monitors have a visibly deep image inset which can be bothersome when viewing the screen. There is no such problem here.
Control:
The four buttons on the monitor give you control of the On-Screen menu. A menu and exit button provide access to the menu, and two direction/selection buttons provide the rest. Using the conventional menu icons, it is very easy to tweak the image to your choice.
Image itself:
Resolution is excellent at all options. I use two monitors side-by-side at 1024x768. Every part of the screen is crisp and clear. Sometimes the edged or center of a monitor are slightly blurred. Neither of mine have that problem - and the 4 others I have bought are just as clear.
Color is the only negative I have, but if you don't put two of these side-by-side you will never know. I find that there are very minor differences between the brightness, and shade of colors at the exact same settings on the two monitors. This is not a big problem - if it were I would have purchased color-sync monitors.
The last words:
A light, well designed monitor with a good viewable image size for a 17" monitor at the price. Easy to install, manage in Windows (sorry, only used on Win 98) and maintain. The base is round, and very stable in case you have a vibrating office. Well worth your purchase.
