The Samsung T260 HDTV is a computer monitor, it has a DVI connector, and 2 HDMI connectors, plus a standard analog VGA connector.
This is a 25.5" (not a 26" as the model number could make you think) TN display LCD monitor. It has built in sound capability (sound can be input by both a sound card or via HDMI cable).
As a computer display this is a wonderful device, it is brilliant, and after ordering my 2nd unit, I have yet to get one with a bad pixel. The screen is crisp, responsive and presents brilliant, colorful screens.
A remote control is included, which can control source (which input is used, for example DVI, cable or HDMI-2), volume, mute, power and other menu settings (brightness, contrast, etc) can easily be controlled and set.
Images are beautiful, large and clear. Screen resolution is larger than normal 1080P resolution and is 1920 x 1200. This works out to be an aspect ratio of 16:10, compared to 1080P displays which are most often 16:9 (this Samsung T260 is wider than most wide screen TV's).
Aside from plugging your PC or MAC into this as a display device. The Samsung T260 HDTV is also a high definition TV capable of being connected to other video sources. Including cable, satellite, or video consoles (Xbox 360 or PS3). Inputs are available for HDMI, RGB, or DVI, or cable / antenna. The cable tuner supports over the air ATSC (most high definition over the air use this), QAM or NTSC for cable (only unencrypted signals can be processed).
When displaying HD content, there is a minor problem. Most HDTV has a 16:9 aspect ratio, this set has a 16:10 aspect (it is wider). You via the menu either stretch (distort) the signal to fit the screen. You can letterbox (about a 1/3 inch black area on the top and bottom of the screen) or you can crop the image (expand it and lose a bit on either side). I prefer to crop HDTV sources to get them to fit this set without any distortion. The area lost is insignificant in my opinion.
As a cable tuner, this set can learn what channels are available, and can pre-set itself to tune only to unencrypted channels. The cable tuner will only work with clear QAM or NTSC signals. Most cable companies still offer some or all signals in a format this device can read, this may change over time. If you intend to use this as a TV receiver, it is best to check with your cable company to verify this sets function.
I've used one in my home office for almost 6 months with no problem. Inputs are from either of 2 PC's, from cable (Comcast) and from a DirecTV DVR. There have been no problems receiving from any of these sources.
There are no fans, and the unit is absolutely quiet. Unfortunately there is no support for picture in picture (PIP). This means you can only fully watch one source at a time. I consider this a minor failing.
The Samsung T260HD 26-inch (25.5-inch viewable) HDTV monitor looks more like artwork than a high-performance video display. It features revolutionary ...More at PC Connection Express
