Pros: Great sound, firmware upgradable, almost perfect size, plenty of storage, includes FM radio.
Cons: Cruddy headphones, useless case, tricky menu navigation, low battery life/very little low battery warning.
The Bottom Line: Definitely consider this player, especially if you're into exercising to music. And, if you are prone to accidently putting things in the washing machine.

| mrblod's Full Review: Samsung Yepp YP-55 (256 MB) Digital Media Player |
After suffering through a bulky, substandard sounding CD player (http://www.epinions.com/content_92047904388), I decided it was finally time to upgrade to something smaller, a little higher-tech and, well, cooler.
After a little research, I decided to pick up the YP-55. What attracted me to it was the size of the player (about the size of a roll of quarters) and the fact that it held 256 mb of music.
I got it home, plugged in the supplied AAA battery and USB cable and immediately started downloading (uploading?) music to it. Windows XP recognizes the player as a removable drive, so transferring music is as simple as right-clicking a folder and selecting Send To->Removable Drive. After about three minutes, I had an entire Lou Reed album downloaded and I was off to give the player it's first test...
The first thing I noticed was a slightly tinny sound... I immediately switched out the supplied headphones with a pair of Sony earbuds I've been in love with for years. That improved the sound immensely, and while I listened to the album, I monkeyed around with the sound settings until I found a combination that suited me. After that, the player sounded GREAT to my ears.
Unfortunately, I learned that the player's menu system is almost impossible to use. Luckily, I have small hands, but I still had trouble pushing and holding the tiny little button that's necessary to navigate the menu items.
After passing the "chill" test, it was time to put it through the exercise test. The next morning, I loaded it up with some hard, fast-tempo songs that I'm used to running to and was off to the gym.
The player performed great, it fit right in my hand, which, compared to what I was used to, was great (it also disappeared into my shorts pocket). I would have liked the option of an arm band or even a clip to attach to my shorts, but whatever. I learned at the gym that the player is not really a loud one -- to have the music at a comfortable level, I needed to have the player turned up all the way. Granted, I was in a room full of cardio equipment and TVs, but still... My previous players were all louder.
I was able to run for about a week and a half (about 6-7 one hour workouts in all) before the battery died, which was somewhat disappointing in my eyes. Also, a little warning that the battery was getting ready to die would have been nice -- the player died a couple of minutes after first telling me it was low!
In summary, this is a great player to use either to bum around the house, take on a trip or exercise to. Be sure to have an aftermarket set of headphones around before judging it though.
********UPDATE**********
In early March, I accidently left this player in my gym shorts and washed it!! Needless to say, I freaked out until I tried using it and it worked PERFECTLY. Holy Crap!
