With the file sizes increasing so rapidly it became necessary to find a flash drive with a larger memory capacity than our current stock of 4GB flash drives.

My boss recently purchased several new SanDisk flash drives for us to use. The model he chose was the SanDisk Cruzer 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive. If you have never used a flash drive before, the SanDisk 8GB drive is very easy to operate.
All you do is use the thumb slide to expose USB plug and insert it into an open USB port on your computer. No CD is necessary to load drivers for your computer to identify and set itself up to allow you to use.
After plugging it in Windows XP Pro setup to drives within Windows Explorer; E:/ and F:/. Once everything is setup you are ready to transfer files.
My first use of my flash drive was to load a small video clip to a stand alone computer attached to a flat screen used in our showroom display. The video file was 4GB in size and the transfer to the drive from source drive took only about 5 minutes and after another 5 minutes to transfer it to the computer for the display, it was up and running in about 10 minutes.
The SanDisk Cruzer 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive is much more rugged device than it looks, it is about the size of a pack of chewing gum and made of plastic. But that is a bit deceiving, after dropping mine a few times and just kept working. I would say unless you drop it about step on it, it will hold up to numerous dropping onto had surfaces.
My final thoughts
The SanDisk Cruzer 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive is worth every penny we paid for them. It has the convenience of a lanyard to wear it around your neck or you can attach it to a keyring and keep it in your pocket. You can also purchase cases that will hold one or multiple flash drives that will attach to your belt or clip onto your pants.
Another great feature is the thumb slide that is used to slide out the USB plug instead of having a cap covering the plug. I lost count on how many times I have misplaced the cover on other flash drives I have used.
The single biggest reason I love this drive is because I can copy and transport very large files from one computer to another that aren't connected to our company network. I was able to copy a 5GB file in five minutes and load it onto another computer in another five minutes and have a video clip playing on one of our new video displays in our showroom.
