| Saxguy's Full Review: SanDisk (DHSDCFB256A10) (256 MB) CF Card |
About 2 years ago, in anticipation of a visit to Disney World, I bought a Canon Powershot S50 Digital Camera. I knew the camera would take great pictures. I also figured that the 32MB card that Canon supplied with the camera was not going to be enough. So, I looked around for quality, reasonably priced compact flash cards.
Disney World was going to be with my wife's relatives from Italy, who we don't get to see very often. Havig a solid camera and solid mamory was going to be especially important.
Sandisk was a brand I used reliably before. More expensive than the off brands, it was still a good value among the more reliable brands. So, I got a couple of 256K cards and a 512K card from an online vendor and set out to use them. At the time, it was fairly early in their product life, so they were a bit more expensive than now. I recall getting the 2 256mb cards for around $50 total and the one 512MB card for just under 50. Now, the 256 mb card is available on Ebay for $14.95 plus shipping.
Obviously, I made sure I had the right format. I did. There was no problem fitting this into the proper slot in the camera.
Since then, this card went with me to Disney World, lots of family celebrations as well as several live concerts by myself and has performed admirably. While the Canon has a number of high quality, high memory options, I've found settings that put out nice quality pictures averaging 1.0 - 1.5 MB per picture. This card works seamlessly with the camera in recording the pictures that I or my family take, and works equally seamlessly with the fairly rudimentary video available using the camera.
Once the shooting is over, the .jpg and avi files saved on the card can be downloaded from the S50 through a dedicated USB cable. I also can remove the card from the camera and access the files using a standard card reader.
There has been no degradation of the files on the card or in the quality of those saved on my computer and sent to my family and friends, and I've taken hundreds over the fast 2 years.
I would recommend the Sandisk brand for use in devices that use compact flash storage.
Thanks for reading. God bless.
